Lighthouse Card In The Box

Earlier this week, one of my fiance's cousins turned a year older and we are going home this weekend to celebrate his birthday.  He loves lighthouse and when I saw a card in the box that had a lighthouse, I knew just had to make for him.  Mine of course is a bit different.  The card turned out pretty cool.  I have to say I like the bigger card in the box better than the smaller ones that I have made over the past week weeks.  You can add a lot more detail and the images can be a lot bigger.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Monster In Love

With another cold wave starting tomorrow, I got a phone call from my school saying "we were closing both Monday and Tuesday."  I love having days off when they are unexpected, but I am not looking forward to making up all of these days come June.  Having the next two days off gives me extra time in my craft room to work on cards for my three Secret Sisters.  I will definitely enjoy it and it will be great way to send my time since it will be super cold outside.  But enough about having two days off, let's discuss tonight's creation.

Tonight I used my Silhouette to make my Monster In Love.  This image was a free SVG file from Miss Kate Cuttables.  I always love downloading here freebie of the day and thinking of different ways I can use them in my project.  When I just saw the Monster In Love, I knew I had to make a Valentine card with it since he was so cute.  Also, what kid won't enjoy getting an Valentine card with this guy on it.  I feel like this card is missing something on the front, but it is cute none the less.  I will have to make another card, but this time with a girl monster.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Whale you be mine?

Today was a great day.  We had an early release at school due to the weather so I was home a few hours earlier than normal.  I decided to relax for a little bit before creating tonight's creation.  Before I decided on a theme for tonight's card, I checked out Miss Kate Cuttables website and found this adorable whale with a cute saying to go along with it.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out the different layers of the whale and the message.  This card turned out absolutely adorable.  I know the saying is a little cheesy, but "be mine" gets boring after a while.  I can't wait to give this card to someone special.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Happy Birthday!

Since one of my good friends birthday is at the end of the week, I decided to make her a card tonight using her favorite colors.  Tonight's card was made using my Silhouette and an image from Miss Kate Cuttables. Even though it took me a few tries to get everything cut out, it turned out pretty cute and I can't wait to give it to her on Friday.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Another Happy New Year Card

Since New Year's is right around the corner and there are a few people I want to send card to, I decided to make another New Year's card.  Also, Miss Kate Cuttables had a very cut "Happy New Year's" title today so I couldn't resist not using it.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out all of the different layers for the title.  After it was adhered together, I can the overlay through the Big Shot so the background was embossed stars.  Once again, I love how this card turned out.  It is super colorful and I hope that it will brighten the person's day who is receiving it.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Fishing A Happy Birthday To My Fiance!

Today is my fiance's birthday so I made him a card that represented two of his favorite things, fishing and turtles.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out all of the different pieces that I needed for this card.  To make the fish bowl card, I had to mirror the image above and then weld them together.  One of the many features that I love about my Silhouette Design Studio software.  Once everything was cut out, I adhered everything together and then positioned everything where I wanted it before gluing it down.  I finished this card 10 minutes before he was expected to get home and it turned out super cute.  He loved it, but he thought "Fishing you a Happy Birthday" was a little cheesy.  Oh well, that is what makes the card unique.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Penguin

Since one of my best friend's favorite animal is a penguin, I decided to make her a special Christmas card just for her.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out the different layers of my penguin on ice.  Once it was all cut out, I adhered him together.  The penguin was much easier to assemble then the bear the other night.  After the penguin was altogether, I embossed the overlay with snowflakes.  This card turned out super cute and I know she is going to love it.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Santa!

Even though all of my Christmas card are done, I still find myself thinking of more cards I can make.  There are so many different designs that one can make themed around Christmas and since cards don't go bad, I can use them next year or something.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out the different layers of the Santa as well as the Ho Ho Ho from Miss Kate Cuttables.  Once those were cut out, I assembled them together.  The Santa went together way easier than he was to cut out.  The top overlay took three tires before it didn't come out as one big mess. After the main pieces were together, I found some cute patterned paper from my new Christmas paper packet that made a nice background for Santa.  I then adhered everything together to finish my card.  This card turned out cute.  Christmas cards are always fun to make since there are so many different possibilities and the ideas are endless.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Hoot Hoot!

Tonight's card was pretty simple to create, but it turned out super cute.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out the different layers of the owl.  Once everything was cut out, I adhered it together following the direction that were provided from Miss Kate Cuttables.  That is one thing that I love about her SVG file is that she provides you with directions since there are so many different layers.  Sometimes I feel like there are too many layers, but that doesn't stop me from creating the image.  This card turned out super cute and this is one of three owls cards that I will be making this week.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Thanksgiving Owl

After a very relaxing morning, I decided that I needed to clean my craft room so I could find the tables. Who would have thought it could get so messy in only a week's time.  I didn't get the whole craft room cleaned, but I found the tables which is a plus.  But instead of talking about my mess, let's discuss tonight's creation.

Just like last night, tonight's creation is a Thanksgiving theme=since I needed to finish a customer order. After searching through my Silhouette library, I came across this cute Thanksgiving owl.  This owl was one of the freebie of the day on Miss Kate Cuttables website a few weeks ago and I thought it was perfect for tonight's creation.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out all of the different layers of the owl.  Once the owl was cut out, I adhered the different layers together to make it complete.  I then used my trimmer to cut the overlay and card base.  Instead of using patterned paper for this card, I decided to use a stamp from the Gently Falling stamp collection to make a custom background.  One thing that I love about Stampin UP is everything coordinates together and that allows me to make custom backgrounds like this one.  Everything came together perfectly for this card and I hope that my customer loves the card as much as I do.  Until next time, happy carding.

Gobble Gobble

Today was the craft show and it didn't go as well as I hoped.  Everyone has their good and bad days at the craft show, you learn from it and move on.  Besides the craft show, I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing for the first in what seems like weeks.  It was very nice and just what I needed after a long week.  Enough about my day, let's discuss tonight's creation.

Tonight I decided to create a Thanksgiving card since I have been doing Christmas so much lately.  The inspiration for this card came from Pinterest of course.  I wanted to make the turkey so it stood out and wasn't like a normal one that you would see on a card.  I used my scoring board to score a 1.5" strip of pattern paper.  Once it was scored every 1/4", I fold it back and forth until it was finished.  Instead of making it into a rosette, I made it into a fan for the turkey's feathers.  I then used my Silhouette to cut out the different layers of the turkey body.  After the turkey's body was adhered together, I glued it onto the fan.  It looked a little weird at first since half of the body was floating in the air.  I then embossed the white overlay with leaves using my Big Shot.  After the card base was finished, I used my dimensionals to bring down his feet so they were attached to the base of the card and then used one by his head to keep it flat as well.  After the turkey was adhered down, I created a banner for the bottom of the card where I stamped "Happy Thanksgiving."  To get the ends of the banner somewhat perfect, I used one side of my hexagon punch to create the banner appearance.  This card turned out very neat.  It is different then traditional Thanksgiving cards that you see in the store, but that is what makes it unique.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Bear in Present

With rain showers and plenty of cold air this morning, it definitely felt like we had finally changed seasons.  Most of the trees in the area have dropped their leaves, and are now naked waiting for that first snow.  I fear that instead of a pretty white coat, we are in for a long winter.  Thankfully when the weather doesn't cooperate outside I can always cuddle up with a cup of hot chocolate.  Plus to keep myself from developing a case of cabin fever, my remarkable creations are a nice break from reality.  Enough talk of seasons that are full of chilly mornings and onto the creations for today.

Since December 1st will be here before I know it, I have created another Christmas card tonight.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out the teddy bear and present.  This image required some assembling like most images that I cut out using my Silhouette do.  After the teddy bear and present were assembled, I used my Stampin UP trimmer to custom cut the card and white overlay.  Using my Big Shot, I embossed the white overlay with candy canes to give it some extra texture.  Once the overlay was completed, I finished assembling my card.  I would have like to included a sentiment, but unfortunately there was not much room left.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Scarecrow!

Today was a great day for a few different reasons.  I didn't get a migraine for the second day in a row so I am hoping my new medication is finally working.  Also, the student that finished her lesson in 5 minutes last week did it again today and I taught her two new letters.  I have a feeling that she is going to be a fast typist if she keeps up the hard work.  Enough about my day and onto tonight's creation.

This morning I downloaded the freebie of the day from Miss Kates Cuttables like I do every morning, but today I got an instant idea in my head for today's card.  While at school I kept thinking about my idea and adding things until I arrived at tonight's creation.  First, I stamped the pumpkins on the bottom of my white overlay.  To get the pumpkins so they were not overlapping, I used a technique called masking.  I stamped the image onto a piece of paper and then cut it out.  I used that to put over the stamp that was already there and when I stamped the next pumpkin whatever was overlapping went onto the scrap piece of paper.  I really like how this technique worked.  Next time, I will be using posted notes that so that is sticky and doesn't move while I am stamping.  Once the pumpkins were finished, I used my stamping sponges again to create the background.  I have fallen in love with that technique as well.  While I was working on the overlay, my Silhouette was cutting out the different pieces for my scarecrow.  After I stamped "Happy Halloween," on the overlay, I assembled my scarecrow.  It was pretty easy to put together the scarecrow tonight unlike the tree from last night.  Once the scarecrow was assembled, I adhered it to the overlay.  I absolutely love how tonight's creation turned out.  I used a new technique and it actually worked out the first time.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Sympathy Card

Tonight's card was a bit of a struggle since I had to make a sympathy card.  Sympathy cards are never easy and when you know the person it makes it that much harder.  One of my fiance's cousin dad passed away last night.  Unfortunately, I only got to meet him once, but he seemed like a great guy just from the one meeting.  He will be greatly missed by friends and family that had the honor of knowing him.  As a dedication to him, I plan on giving his family this card to them out of our condolences for their loss.

Tonight's creation was created using my Silhouette as well as my paper trimmer.  First, I used my Silhouette to cut out the different layers of the fall tree.  While my Silhouette was taking its time cutting out the tree, I used my trimmer to custom cut the base as well as the white overlay.  Once the Silhouette was finished, I assembled the tree together.  I think that every Silhouette file should come with a set of instructions since this tree was not the easiest to put together.  There may not have been may pieces, but trying to figure out the order was a challenge all by itself.  After the tree was assembled, I used stamping sponges to make the background.  I love using new techniques and this technique came out quite well.  Even though this card is to show our condolences I hope that the family enjoys the peaceful tranquility, and can remember the positives of the loss of Bill.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

TGIF!

After a long and exhausting school week, I felt like a semi-easy card was in store for today (seems like the running theme for this week).  Between the heat and having a full schedule this week, I was extremely tired on a Friday night (all things considered this is my blog for the card that I created).  After downloading the "Freebie of the Day" from Miss Kate Cuttables (something I have used before in my project), I knew that was it was the right image for tonight's card.  After the file was downloaded, I searched my Silhouette library for something to go with the provided one-eyed monster.  Since the monster reminded me of Halloween, I decided that a Happy Halloween was a perfect fit for this card.  Once the place of all the elements was arranged on the mat, it was now time to cut the paper with my Silhouette.  I then assembling the monster and  title I used a glue stick to put together some of the pieces.  This was the easiest part of the card as I found myself struggling to pick out a base that placed while with the elements.  When was the card base was finally chosen with an appropriate overlay, the card was nearly complete.  This left me with a cute card to complete my Friday night.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.
