Happy New Year!

Wow, where has the year gone?  It doesn't seem possible that 2013 is coming to an end in less than 3 hours. It seems like the years go by faster the older I get.  2013 was a great year for me though.  I got engaged and my best friend moved back home.  Many other great things have happened as well, but I don't want to bore you with it all.  Anyway, let's discuss the final creation for 2013.

When I think of New Year's, I think of fireworks and the ball being dropped in Time Square so I decided to use the starbrust technique.  I cut 2" strips of designer paper and then cut them into triangles.  Once I had enough triangles, I ran my overlay through my Xyron so that it had adhesive all over it.  I then laid the triangles onto the overlay having them all meet at the same point in middle.  After the overlay was covered with designer paper, I cut off the extra paper that hung over the edges.  To finish the card, I stamped 3 flowers from the Flower Shop stamp set and 3 flowers from the Petite Petals stamp set and adhered them together with a dimensionals.  This card couldn't have turned out better if I tried.  This was a great card to end 2013 with.  I can't wait to embark on my 365 project this year.  The last 6 months were only for practice to see if I could keep up with it.  I have proven to myself that I can do this project no matter what kind of day I am having.  I hope you have enjoyed seeing all my cards just as much as I have enjoyed creating them.  Lastly, I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Hello!

Today didn't start out very well since I woke up with a migraine and it hasn't went away yet.  So I am just going to post today's card and I will write about it tomorrow.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Another Happy New Year Card

Since New Year's is right around the corner and there are a few people I want to send card to, I decided to make another New Year's card.  Also, Miss Kate Cuttables had a very cut "Happy New Year's" title today so I couldn't resist not using it.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out all of the different layers for the title.  After it was adhered together, I can the overlay through the Big Shot so the background was embossed stars.  Once again, I love how this card turned out.  It is super colorful and I hope that it will brighten the person's day who is receiving it.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Happy New Year!

Since I got one of my friend's new address after I sent out the Christmas cards, I decided to make her a New Years card.  The inspiration for this card came from Pinterest.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out the four banners and 2014.  Once those were cut out, I adhered them onto the card.  I then used one of my stamps to stamp "Happy New Year" on the bottom right hand corner of the card.  I thought the card looked a little bare so I added some sliver and gold glitter stars to the overlay.  I love how this card turned out.  Since I used Stampin UP paper, I knew it would all colors would coordinate together nicely.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Thinking of You!

Today we received a Christmas card in the mail that didn't have good news in it so I decided to make a thinking of you card for my cousin.  She has had it pretty rough for the past several years and can't seem to catch a break.  I wanted to make her a card to let her know that we are thinking about her even if we are 400 miles apart.  This card was pretty simple to make, but most thinking of you cards are pretty simple as well.  I used the Swallowtail stamp to stamp the large butterfly onto a piece of white card stock.  I then cut it down to size so it would fit onto my card base.  Once that was finished, I stamped "Thinking of You" from the Sassy Salutations stamp set.  I think the card turned out pretty neat even though it was simple to make.  I hope this card will pick my cousin's spirits up a little bit and let her know that her family in Wisconsin is thinking about her in this difficult time.  Until next time, happy carding everyone!

Petite Petals

After searching through Pinterest and not finding any inspiration, I went into my craft room and look at all of the different stamp sets that I have.  I decided on the Petite Petals stamp set with coordinating punch which is from the new Stampin UP Occasions Catalog.  Once I had all of the flowers stamped and punched, I embossed the overlay and laid out the flowers.  After the flowers were adhered on, my envision for my card kind of went out the window.  I finally decided on banner stamp that says "You make me happy" from the Perfect Pennant stamp set after staring at the card for what seemed like forever.  I then used my banner framelits to cut it out.  This card didn't turn out how I envisioned, but it still turned out none the less.  Maybe my original envision will come back and I can make that card sometime as well.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Last Christmas Card for the Year!

Today being Christmas in all, we spent the day with both of our families.  It gets to be a little much, but unfortunately that is how it worked out this year.  Even though it was a lot of eating, we had a lot of fun visiting with our families and everything.  I got some really great presents that I wasn't expecting either, but those are the best kind.  Enough about how our Christmas went, let's discuss tonight's creation.

Since Christmas is over now, I had to make one last Christmas card before I started making cards until about October or November next year.  First, I stamped the Santa onto a piece of white cardstock.  I then used my Big Shot and circle framelits to cut out the Santa along with another bigger circle for the border. Once that finished, I used my trimmer to cut out the card base, two overlays, and then the two overlays for the little saying.  To finish the card, I stamped "He's making a list and checking it twice..." from the Santa's List stamp set.  This card was pretty simple to make, but it was just what I needed after a long day of visiting and driving.  I will miss making Christmas cards, but it is nice to focus on other themes that I have been neglecting since November.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!

3D Paper Stars!

Today's creation looks like a simple card, but it was a little bit more work than just that.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out three stars.  Once the stars were cut out, I scored them the top of the point to the center of the star.  I did this for each of the five points and then I fold on the score lines.  After I fold all five points, I then took two of the points together and creased them.  Again, I did this with all five points and this is what makes it a 3D star.  I did find a video that I will post at the bottom of my blog.  The directions are not exactly like the ones that I followed, but it will still be helpful.  Once the 3D stars were finished, I punched out three smaller stars for the card.  To finish the card, I used my Big Shot to cut out the word "Merry" with the expression thinlits and run the overlay through to emboss it with strips.   I then stamped "Christmas" in the middle of one of the strips so it lined up with Merry.  This card turned out great.  I didn't know if the stars were going to turn out first, but they did.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Owl Christmas

Since my card was done so early today, I almost forgot to post it.  Today's creation was inspired by Pinterest.  Using my owl punch, I punch out the different pieces that I need for the owls.  I then cut out triangles for their hats.  I used my mini scalloped circle punch to decorate the hats a little bit more.  Once the owls were finished, I cut out my overlay and then used my scallop edge border punch to give it a nice border.  I then ran the other overlay through the Big Shot to make it look like wood.  To finish my card, I stamped "Merry Christmas" onto a white piece of paper and punched it out with the word window punch.  I then used my modern label punch for the background.  This card turned out super cute.  I love how adding the border to the card makes it pop a little bit more.  Christmas is 2 days away and I don't know what I will do with myself after that since I have been making Christmas cards since November.  Good thing there are other holidays.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Button Ornaments

After making two and a half cards today, I decided to share the button ornament card.  It was an easy card to make, but turned out beautiful.  Using a stamp from the Snow Day set, I stamped "Warm wishes" onto the white overlay.  I then took my stamp marker and drew five lines with ornament tops.  Using glue dots, I adhered the buttons onto the overlay.  To finish this card, I placed pearls in the middle of the buttons.  This card was cased from on that I say on Pinterest.  It turned out great.  After making this card, I think I will be using more buttons in the future since this card turned out so well.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

The stockings were hung.....

Tonight's creation was created using my Silhouette.  Once everyone was cut out and adhered together, I glued the fireplace onto the card base and then cut around it.  This card didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted it too, but that will happen from time to time.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Punch Art Christmas Tree

Once again, my inspiration for tonight's creation came from Pinterest.  Using my Creative Memories heart punch, I punched out 11 hearts.  After I laid them out, I decided they didn't pop off the card enough so I used my ink dauber and went around the edges of the heart.  I then punched out a modern label and cut it in half for the stump.  I adhered the modern label on the back of one of the hearts.  I then adhered the hearts to the overlay to make it look like a Christmas tree.  After my tree was finished, I punched out a star using my Creative Memories star punch in yellow glitter paper.  To finish the card, I punched out little scalloped circles to put on the tree. This card turned out pretty cool.  Who would have known how many different things you can make with punches.  The more punch art I do, the more I can't wait to order all of my punches in January.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Christmas Wreath

Tonight's inspiration came from Pinterest.  Using my Mosaic punch and coordinating stamp set, I created the wreath for this card.  I then ran part of the overlay through my Big Shot to emboss poinsettias on it.  To finish the card, I stamped "Merry Christmas" on the green overlay of the card and attached a bow to the wreath. The wreath didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted it since I couldn't get the spacing right to save my life. Overall though, it turned out pretty good.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Christmas Tree

Since I am at a friend’s house night, I cut out everything last night so I could assemble it at her house.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out the different layers for the tree and the presents.  I then cut out the frame for the window.  Once everything was assembled, I adhered the tree and presents onto the card base and then put the window frame over the top.  I love how it appears that you are looking into someone’s house and seeing their beautiful Christmas tree with presents underneath.  Even though I love the appearance, there are some minor adjustments that could be made for next time to make the card even better.  The window frame needed to be bigger and a different color than the base of the card, but I worked with what I brought with me.  Since I have started this project, I have learned that not all of the cards are going to turn out the way they were envisioned and that is okay.  I have to remember that I can always redo the card at a later date and they will always be improvements that can be made.  If I decided to get this card to someone, they will appreciate it none the less since it comes from the heart with love.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Minion Christmas!

Tonight I decided I wanted to do some punch art and I found this cute minon so I had to make it.  I will include the directions for the minon at the end of my blog.  After I completed my minon, I created a Santa hat for him.  I then stamped the snowman and made him appear to be looking up at the snow.  Both the snowman and the minon look excited to see snow.  This card turned out pretty cute.  Creating the minon was a lot of fun and I can't wait to get all my punches in January so I can do more punch art.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Mosaic Christmas Tree

Tonight's creation was made with a few different punches.  To make the Christmas tree, I used the Mosaic Punch with coordinating stamp set.  I then used the hexagon punch to make the trunk of the tree by only punching out half of a hexagon.  To finish the card, I cut a strip of paper and to make it look like a banner, I used the hexagon punch again for the ends.  This card didn't completely turn out the way I would have hoped, but it turned out none the less.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

200th Card!

After being gone for the past three days on a road trip back from California, I am exhausted.  My best friend moved back to Wisconsin and I flew out with another friend to bring her and all of her stuff home.  It was a great trip, but I am glad to be home after 30 hours in the car.  I was going to opt for an easy card today since I am so tired, but then I realized that today is the 200th card.  I couldn't just do a simple card since this is another milestone for me. Who would have thought that I would have made it this far when I started this project in June.  As a card maker, I have came a long way with my creative and skills and can't wait to create 200 more cards.  Enough about my trip and this milestone, let's briefly discuss tonight's creation.

Since I am exhausted, I am just going to post the link to the video on how to make this card at the bottom of my blog.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out the winter bird and holly berries.  Once those were adhered together I stamped "Merry Christmas" at the top of the overlay.  After everything was adhered together and cut out, I created my card and you will find the link at the bottom.  It turned out to be a pretty neat card.  I was going to have floating snowflakes on the stairs, but it didn't look quite right so I left them off.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Thank You!

Tonight's creation was another simple card.  Using my Bitty Butterfly punch, I punched out three butterflies and then used my circle framelits to cut them out.  I then cut out pattern paper to go behind the butterflies so that they popped off the paper a little more.  To give the butterflies antennas, I stamped the antenna from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and then put rhinestones at the ends.  Finishing my card, I stamped "thank you" from the Sassy Salutations stamp set.  This card came together very well even though it was pretty simple to create.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Deck The Halls

Tonight's creation is very simple since I had the flu all day.  Using the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set, I stamped an ornament in the middle of the overlay.  I then used the Christmas message stamp set to stamp "deck the halls" on the bottom.  To give this card a little more color, I cut out 1" strips of designer paper the length of the card to be adhered on both sides of the overlay.  Even though this card was simple, it turned out great.  Now that my card of the day is done, I am going to return to bed where I have been all day.  Hopefully, I feel better tomorrow so I can return to school.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Hello!

Being a Stampin UP demonstrator has a lot of great benefits and one is being able to order new product before the customers.  Today I got my pre-order shipment for the catalog that starts on January 1st as well as the free products that you can earn for every $50 that you spend during our Sale-A-Bration promotion starting January 28th.  Since UPS showed up super early for once, I was able to use a few of my new products on tonight's creation.

Using my Basic Gray ink, I stamped the outline of the label love and then punched it out using the coordinating punch.  I then stamped the "hello" banner from the new Perfect Pennants stamp set.  Using the banner framelit, I cut out the "hello" banner.  The banner framelits comes with several different size banners that can be cut out using the Big Shot.  I then embossed the overlay with one of the free items that can earned during the Sale-A-Bration promotion.  To finish my card, I punched out three butterflies using the Bitty Butterfly punch.  This card was inspired from Pinterest and I loved how I changed it to make it my own creation.  It turned out great and I love how the new products all came together with the products that I already have.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Lovebirds

Tonight's creation was made using my Silhouette.  Once I adhered all of the pieces together to make the lovebirds.  I used the Teeny Tiny Wishes set to stamp "Happy Anniversary" and then I punched it out with the word window punch.  I then punched out the background for the word window with the Modern Label punch.  I ran into a few complications with this card, but it still turned out.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

First Stampin UP Workshop

Today I did my first Stampin UP workshop and it went well even though I was very nervous.  Thankfully, I didn't forget anything I needed at home which was one of my biggest fears.  Everyone had a lot of fun even though the cards were a little hard for them.  They were troopers and kept at it until they were finished. There are things I will change for next time and I already have a list of what I need to buy so that I have enough of everything.  Enough about the workshop and let's discuss tonight's creation.

This card was created specially for the hostess and I have created cards like this before so I wont' bore you will the details.  Instead I will post the video tutorial for this card at the bottom of my blog and briefly highlight the different products that I used.  For this card, I used the two butterfly punches, bird punch, and flower shop punch.  Also, I heat embossed the greeting on the front of the card.  This card turned out remarkable.  I wanted to make a card with butterflies since that was the hostess favorite and she loved the cards so it was a success.  Also, I love all of the different products that were used for this card and how they came together.

Fishing A Happy Birthday To My Fiance!

Today is my fiance's birthday so I made him a card that represented two of his favorite things, fishing and turtles.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out all of the different pieces that I needed for this card.  To make the fish bowl card, I had to mirror the image above and then weld them together.  One of the many features that I love about my Silhouette Design Studio software.  Once everything was cut out, I adhered everything together and then positioned everything where I wanted it before gluing it down.  I finished this card 10 minutes before he was expected to get home and it turned out super cute.  He loved it, but he thought "Fishing you a Happy Birthday" was a little cheesy.  Oh well, that is what makes the card unique.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Penguin

Since one of my best friend's favorite animal is a penguin, I decided to make her a special Christmas card just for her.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out the different layers of my penguin on ice.  Once it was all cut out, I adhered him together.  The penguin was much easier to assemble then the bear the other night.  After the penguin was altogether, I embossed the overlay with snowflakes.  This card turned out super cute and I know she is going to love it.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Owls

Tonight I decided to finish my card order for three owl cards.  I found my inspiration on Pinterest, but changed it to make it work with the tools that I had.  Using my Big Shot, I cut two holes into the overlay with the circle framelits.  Once those were cut out, I embossed the overlay to make it look like a tree.  I then used my Owl Punch to punch out two owls and the different pieces to complete them.  Once the owls were completed, I used dimensionals to raise the overlay up so that I the owls appeared to be in the tree looking at each other.  After the card was completed, I felt that it was missing something so I used my Bird Punch and added some green leaves to it.  This card is very cute.  The owls may not be your traditional colors or patterns, but that is what makes it fun.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Fishing Bear

Since my fiance's birthday is in 3 days, I created one of his birthday cards tonight.  This card took a lot longer than planned since it took a little bit of time to figure out how it all went together.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out all the different layers for the fishing bear along with the accessories.  I then started adhering the pieces together and this is what took the longest.  Once the fishing bear was all put together, I adhered him onto the base of the card and stamped "happy birthday" in the right-hand corner from the Bring On The Cake stamp set.  This card turned out super cute even though it was a little bit more difficult to put together then my most recent cards.  Just need to make him one more birthday card and I will be all ready for his birthday on Friday.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Santa!

Even though all of my Christmas card are done, I still find myself thinking of more cards I can make.  There are so many different designs that one can make themed around Christmas and since cards don't go bad, I can use them next year or something.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out the different layers of the Santa as well as the Ho Ho Ho from Miss Kate Cuttables.  Once those were cut out, I assembled them together.  The Santa went together way easier than he was to cut out.  The top overlay took three tires before it didn't come out as one big mess. After the main pieces were together, I found some cute patterned paper from my new Christmas paper packet that made a nice background for Santa.  I then adhered everything together to finish my card.  This card turned out cute.  Christmas cards are always fun to make since there are so many different possibilities and the ideas are endless.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Thinking of You

After an extended weekend at my parent's house, we are finally home.  It was a great weekend, but it is always nice to be in your own bed.  Tonight's card is pretty easy to make since I had a lot to put away and get ready before school tomorrow.  Using my Flower Shop stamp set with coordinating punch to make the front of the card.  I then stamped "Thinking of You" from the Sassy Salutations stamp set  on the bottom of the card.  The card was pretty easy tonight, but it was just what I needed.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Sunflower

Since it was a beautiful day and it felt kind of like spring, I decided to make a sunflower card tonight.  Using my Hexagon punch with coordinating stamps (Six-Sided Sampler), I created the sunflower.  The stem was made of out scraps that I had left over from precious creations.  I then used my Blossom Petal punch to create the leaves for the stem.  This card turned out just the way I envision.  I hope that we have more days like today, but I know that temperatures will be dropping again soon and snow is right around the corner.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Owl!

Tonight's creation is another owl card since I need to complete an order before I return to school on Monday.  This creation was inspired from Pinterest.  Using my trimmer, I cut out the different size overlays and the base.  It was a little tricky to figure out the middle overlays for the owl, but after a few tries I figure it out.  I then used my Owl Punch and Bird Punch to create the design on the teal overlay.  I love how the colors came together.  This card turned out great and I can't wait to take it to school on Monday.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Thank you!

Tonight's creation was suppose to have a Thanksgiving theme, but unfortunately that didn't turn out the way I planned.  I had pre-cut an image using my Silhouette to adhere together today since I am way from my craft room for the holiday, but while I was assembling it I ripped one of the pieces.  I decided to go with plan B.  Plan B is not that exciting.  It is hard to make cards when I am way from home since I don't know what supplies I will need and such.  Enough with me complaining though and let's discuss tonight's creation.

Using my trimmer, I cut out the overlay and base for the card.  I then used my "Another Thank You" photopolymer stamp set to stamp on the overlay.  With today being Thanksgiving, there is a lot to be thankful for like our families and friends.  Even though this card is not a perfect fit, it will have to do for tonight's creation.  Unfortunately, I can't bring my whole craft room with me when I travel away from more than one day.  Things like this are bond to happen and out of my control so I just have to roll with the punches.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Thankful!

With Thanksgiving tomorrow, there are so many things that I am thankful for.  So I thought tonight's creation was prefect for this occasion.  Using my Big Shot, I cut out the word "Thankful" with Stampin UP's expression thinlits.  I then cut out the card base and overlay.  Once those were cut out, I used the Magnificent Maple stamp to create the background on the overlay.  I love how the background turned out and how they came together at the bottom.  The expression thinlit helped it come together nicely as well. Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Stockings

After sitting at school for an extra 3 hours tonight at Parent-Teacher Conferences, I decided that an easy card was in order since I had to be back at school in less than 12 hours.  Using my trimmer, I cut out the two overlays and the base for the card.  I then used a few stamps from the Snow Day stamp set.  I used a ruler and my black stamp marker to draw the lines to make it appear the images were hanging from the words.  This card is simple and I know that some of my cards lately have been simple, but I have to keep reminding myself that I am keeping up with my project and not giving up.  There has been days were I have so many things going on where I want to give up, but I just keeping going and that is huge for me.  Since tomorrow is a half day, I am hoping I can find my craft table and make a complex card for tomorrow's creation.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Hoot Hoot!

Tonight's card was pretty simple to create, but it turned out super cute.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out the different layers of the owl.  Once everything was cut out, I adhered it together following the direction that were provided from Miss Kate Cuttables.  That is one thing that I love about her SVG file is that she provides you with directions since there are so many different layers.  Sometimes I feel like there are too many layers, but that doesn't stop me from creating the image.  This card turned out super cute and this is one of three owls cards that I will be making this week.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Thank You!

Today I booked my first Stampin Up workshop so I thought I would make a simple Thank You card for the occasion.  Never thought I would be booking workshops, but I am excited.  Using my trimmer, I cut out the base and overlay for this card.   I then used the Sassy Salutations and Regarding Dahlias to make the front of the card.  There is a little more white space then I would have liked, but it still came out pretty good.  This would be a great card to give to a customer after they purchased some products from me.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Opening of Deer Hunting

Today was the opening of deer hunting and my honey got his first deer.  I am so happy for him.  After 4 years of hunting with me, he finally got a deer.  Since it was opening day, I thought a deer themed card was in order.  I used my Silhouette to cut out everything besides the base of the card.  I then stamped trees onto the oval and glued the deer on the card.  I used my Big Shot to emboss the light brown overlay to make it look like a tree log.  This card was pretty simple, but after getting up at 4:30 a.m. it was just what I needed today.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Caterpillar

After a long day at school, I came home and finished an order that I will be delivering this weekend.  It seems like years since the last time I seen her so it will be nice to catch up.  To finish off her order, I needed to make a birthday card for her two year old niece.  I thought this caterpillar card was the perfect fit since it is so colorful.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out 1.5" circles to make the body of the caterpillar.  I then layered it so it appeared like it was inching across the card.  Once the caterpillar was finished, I drew on a smile and antennas with a black marker.  I added on pink circles to make the antennas stand out a little bit more.  I didn't add the eyes yet since I will be getting some googely eyes from one of my fellow elementary teachers tomorrow.  To finish my card, I stamped "happy birthday" from the Bring On The Cake stamp set.  This card turned out super cute and I can't wait to deliver it this weekend.  I hope she enjoys all of the cards that I have created for her.  Until next time, happy carding everyone!

Baby Train

Tonight's creation is a baby themed card.  I got my inspiration from Pinterest for this card.  Using my Big Shot, I made the train carts with the smallest Deco Label framelit.  I then used my Silhouette to cut out a scalloped border for the top of the train cart.  To finish off the train carts, I used circle punches to make the wheels.  Once they were adhered together, I stamped the zoo animals from the Zoo Babies stamp set.  I made sure that they would be a little bit covered up by the train cart so that it appeared like they were sitting in the train.  To finish the card, I stamped Congratulation at the top of the white overlay.    I love how this card turned out.  The train cards turned out super cute as well.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Minnie Mouse

Tonight's creation is a Minnie Mouse for one of my best friend's niece.  This card was pretty easy to make, but a lot of fun at the same time.  Using my big shot, I made the bow and circles with the Gift Bow Bigz Die and Circle Framelits.  Once all of the pieces were cut, I assembled the bow together.  I then adhered the circles together to make it look like a Mickey Mouse head.  To finish my card, I stamped "Happy Birthday" from the Sassy Salutation stamp set in white ink.  This card turned out super cute.  Making cards for children is a lot of fun since sky is the limit with them.  They are interested in a lot of different things when they are younger.  The hard part is just keeping up with everything, but my students at school help me out sometimes. Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Brayer Sunset Technique

Since I have several orders that I need to complete this week, I decided to get started on one of them tonight. One of my best friends wanted a birthday card for her nephew and he loves hunting so this card fits perfectly.  After deciding on a theme, I wanted to try the sunset brayer technique and I thought it would fit the card them nicely.  Since I am new to the brayer and the different things it can do, I found this video on Pinterest (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-zHZQISoaw) which helped me create a sunset background with yellow and orange ink.  Once the sunset was finished, I added grass to the bottom where it was still white with the brayer as well.  I feel that it give it a hill like look when it was completed.  I then went ahead and stamped the trees from the Lovely As A Tree stamp set on the overlay.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out a buck to be adhered to the card as well.  To finish this card, I stamped "Happy Birthday" in the right-hand corner.  This card turned out great and my best friend loved it.  I am always a little bit scared to try out a new technique when making cards for my customers since I never know if it will turn out or not, but I have to say that it turned out nicely.  I can't wait to hear how her nephew liked this card when he opens it on his birthday!  Until next time, happy carding everyone!

Thanksgiving Owl

After a very relaxing morning, I decided that I needed to clean my craft room so I could find the tables. Who would have thought it could get so messy in only a week's time.  I didn't get the whole craft room cleaned, but I found the tables which is a plus.  But instead of talking about my mess, let's discuss tonight's creation.

Just like last night, tonight's creation is a Thanksgiving theme=since I needed to finish a customer order. After searching through my Silhouette library, I came across this cute Thanksgiving owl.  This owl was one of the freebie of the day on Miss Kate Cuttables website a few weeks ago and I thought it was perfect for tonight's creation.  Using my Silhouette, I cut out all of the different layers of the owl.  Once the owl was cut out, I adhered the different layers together to make it complete.  I then used my trimmer to cut the overlay and card base.  Instead of using patterned paper for this card, I decided to use a stamp from the Gently Falling stamp collection to make a custom background.  One thing that I love about Stampin UP is everything coordinates together and that allows me to make custom backgrounds like this one.  Everything came together perfectly for this card and I hope that my customer loves the card as much as I do.  Until next time, happy carding.

Gobble Gobble

Today was the craft show and it didn't go as well as I hoped.  Everyone has their good and bad days at the craft show, you learn from it and move on.  Besides the craft show, I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing for the first in what seems like weeks.  It was very nice and just what I needed after a long week.  Enough about my day, let's discuss tonight's creation.

Tonight I decided to create a Thanksgiving card since I have been doing Christmas so much lately.  The inspiration for this card came from Pinterest of course.  I wanted to make the turkey so it stood out and wasn't like a normal one that you would see on a card.  I used my scoring board to score a 1.5" strip of pattern paper.  Once it was scored every 1/4", I fold it back and forth until it was finished.  Instead of making it into a rosette, I made it into a fan for the turkey's feathers.  I then used my Silhouette to cut out the different layers of the turkey body.  After the turkey's body was adhered together, I glued it onto the fan.  It looked a little weird at first since half of the body was floating in the air.  I then embossed the white overlay with leaves using my Big Shot.  After the card base was finished, I used my dimensionals to bring down his feet so they were attached to the base of the card and then used one by his head to keep it flat as well.  After the turkey was adhered down, I created a banner for the bottom of the card where I stamped "Happy Thanksgiving."  To get the ends of the banner somewhat perfect, I used one side of my hexagon punch to create the banner appearance.  This card turned out very neat.  It is different then traditional Thanksgiving cards that you see in the store, but that is what makes it unique.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Craft Show Tomorrow

Unfortunately, I still have a few things to do before I am ready for the Craft Show tomorrow so this blog is going to be very short.  Getting ready for the craft show has been a lot of work and I hope it pays off tomorrow.  I must get back to getting ready so I can get a few hours of sleep.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.

Dahlias

All week I have been preparing for the Craft Show on Saturday.  I have made 90 cards in the past 6 days and it has been a lot of work, but I have enjoyed every minute of it.  Making cards is a passion of my mine and it is a lot of fun.  I hope that I can share my passion with people at the Craft Show.  Tonight's creation was inspired/cased from Cynthia Millan, it is very similar but different at the same time.  Let's discuss tonight's card.

Using my trimmer, I cut a piece of card stock that would fit the thinlit.  I then used the Circle Thinlit from Stampin UP to create the base of the card.  The card stock was cut extra long so there was an extra flip for someone to write a message.  Once the base was cut out, I punch out 2.5" and 2" circles.  I then used the Regarding Dahlias stamp set to stamp the flower and "hello, you" onto the card.  After the was finished, I punched out butterflies using the Bitty Butterfly Punch and placed two pearls in the center of them.  Once everything was put together, I embossed the colored strip of paper and adhered it to the card.  Even though this card was cased, it turned out wonderful and it has to be one of my favorite cards that I made this week.   I could use this card for a few different occasions or to simply let someone know that I am thinking about them.  Until next time, happy carding everyone.
